Settings

Global configuration options for Stage Cue can be accessed via the application settings dialog. This section provides an overview of the available settings and how to use them.

Board Configuration

Current Configuration

This is a premium feature.

Each board in Stage Cue can hold up to 64 videos. You can create an unlimited number of boards (also called configurations) and switch between them in the Current Configuration view. This view displays a list of all saved configurations. Tapping on one will switch the board to that setup.

On iOS, a haptic tap or left swipe reveals additional actions: Rename, Duplicate, and Delete. Note that Rename and Delete are only available for configurations that are not currently active.

On macOS, these actions are available via the right-click context menu.

Background Image

The Background Image is part of the board configuration and is displayed whenever no video is playing. You can load an image from the device’s local file system or photo library.

Default Playmode

Choose the playback behaviour Stage Cue applies to every new video the moment you add it to a board. Setting the default here saves you from adjusting every clip individually. You can still open Video Settings later to fine-tune a specific video.

Global MIDI Trigger

Use MIDI Learn to set up any global trigger: tap Learn, press a button, pad, or key on your MIDI controller, and Stage Cue will lock that incoming MIDI message to the selected action. You can repeat the process at any time if you need to replace the trigger.

If you prefer typing the command instead of using MIDI Learn, enter it manually. The required format is explained in the section MIDI Format.

Stop Playback

Assign this trigger when you want a single MIDI button to immediately halt whichever video is currently playing.

Play Next

This trigger jumps straight to the next video on the board and starts it playing. If nothing is currently running, or you are already on the last clip, Stage Cue wraps around and launches the first video instead.

MIDI Setup

Network MIDI Sessions (iOS only)

On iOS, Stage Cue can connect to remote MIDI sessions over the local network. This view shows a list of all devices on the same network that are running a network MIDI session. Tap a device to connect. Once connected, Stage Cue will receive MIDI messages from that device directly over the network.

On macOS, you can connect to remote MIDI sessions using the Audio MIDI Setup app. Here’s how to connect to for example Stage Traxx running on an iPhone:

  1. Open the Audio-MIDI-Setup app.
  2. Go to MIDI Studio, then open MIDI Network Setup.
  3. Follow the steps shown in the screenshot below:

Audio-MIDI-Setup App

Note

Both devices must be connected to the same local network to use this feature.

Bluetooth MIDI Devices

Stage Cue also supports Bluetooth LE MIDI devices. Use this dialog to scan for and connect to nearby Bluetooth MIDI devices.

Virtual MIDI Ports

Enable or disable the creation of virtual MIDI ports. These virtual ports allow Stage Cue to send and receive MIDI messages directly to and from other apps running on the same device, without needing any external MIDI hardware. This makes it easy to integrate Stage Cue into complex app setups or workflows where multiple apps need to communicate over MIDI. If you don’t need this functionality, you can simply turn the virtual ports off to keep your MIDI device list cleaner.

Device Settings

Keep Screen On (iOS only)

Keep this switch on during a show to stop iOS from dimming the display or locking the device. Turn it off again when you want the normal auto-lock behaviour back.

In App Purchases

Unlock Stage Cue‘s premium features by tapping Upgrade to Premium. If you’ve previously purchased the upgrade, you can restore it using the Restore Purchase option.

Purchases are tied to your Apple ID. Once purchased, you can use the full version on any device associated with that Apple ID.
