First Steps
This guide provides a quick overview to help you get started with Stage Cue.
Set Up Videos
The first step is to import your video files and assign them to buttons on the main screen. Tap the large button to import up to 64 videos from either your local file system or photo library. You can select multiple files at once - Stage Cue will automatically create a playback button for each imported video.
To customize a video, press and hold its button to open the Video Settings dialog. Here, you can set a custom title and button color, choose playback options such as loop mode, and decide whether to mute the audio.
To reorder your videos, tap the button, then drag and drop buttons to rearrange them. Tap the button again to exit rearrange mode.
Set Up Background Image
You can configure a background image - displayed whenever no video is playing - in the Settings dialog. This image can be loaded from your file system or photo library.
Performing Live
Before your performance, make sure an external display is connected to your iPad or Mac:
- On macOS, open one or more video display windows by choosing New Video Display from the File menu or by pressing
Cmd + N
. Place these windows on the external screens and make them full screen. - On iOS, external displays are automatically detected and used for full-screen playback.
To start playback, simply tap the button for the video you want to play.
- Tapping the currently playing button will stop playback.
- Tapping a different button will stop the current video and start the tapped one.
You can automate or remotely control playback using MIDI or keyboard shortcuts. Assign a unique MIDI message or key to each video via the Video Settings dialog.
Configurations
This is a premium feature.
If you work on different projects or setups, you can create and switch between multiple configurations. Each configuration can contain:
- Up to 64 video buttons
- A custom background image
You can quickly switch between configurations in the Settings dialog.
